The Gator Middle School Boys Cross Country Teams won their 9th District Championship in 10 years. We are very proud of these guys for putting in the work every day early in the morning. Sometimes running in near dark lighting. The 8th grade boys were led by 2nd place finisher Tyler White. The rest of the team did a great job of pack running finishing in 9th, 10th and 13th place. Those runners were Gabe Arreola, Nicholas Cleaves, and Judah James. Not far off the pack was Cael Bodnar in 19th place. Noah Folks finished up the team run not far behind.
The 7th Grade team had Carson Young’s 3rd place finish as their leader. Ethan Morales was the pack leader for the rest of the team finishing in 6th place. Followed by 7th and 8th place runners Jameson Bovard and Anson Farrell. Our next pack of runners came in 12th, 14th and 15th place. Drew Hanes was the leader of that pack with Evan Picart and Cullen Hewitt. This race came down to our number 6 runner and Lampasas number 6 runner. Evan and Cullen pulled it out for the Gators. As we tell them every point counts and every runner counts.
It was a very exciting day for these guys and the future of the boys’ cross country team looks bright for the Gateway Gators.
Our 7th grade girls finished in 3rd place as a team lead by 5th place finisher Reagan Farrell. Our 8th grade girls finished in 4th place led by Mariss Garner 11th place finisher and Lexi Cisneros 13th place finisher.
We are very proud of all our Middle School runners. They all gave it all they had and improved every week.
In cross country it just takes toughness, hard work and time to developed into a good distance runner.
