Cross Country @ HOKA McNeil Meet
Friday (9/24/21) morning our high school cross country team ran at the famous HOKA McNeil Meet in Old Settler's Park.  It is the largest cross country meet in the state of Texas.  It is a two day meet with the top runners in the state of Texas attending.  Old Settler's Park is also where the UIL State Meet is held.
Our Varsity boys ran pretty good at the meet with Nathan Cleaves finishing in 49th place and Danny Arreola finishing in 52nd place.  DJ Robinson was 59th, Daniel Osoba 68th, and Max Rodriguez in 70th.  We were missing two of our varsity runners this week.
The Varsity girls also ran good with Faye Shrader in 54th place.  Charlsie Schwartz 64th, Kiley Neu 70th, Payton Bodnar 80th, Jayden Jones 86th, and Kaylee Pestow 89th.
Our girls ran against the #2 and #4 ranked 4A teams in the State.  Our guys also ran against 3 of the top 10 teams in the State.  It was a tough meet but, our Gators got after it and people took notice of Gateway College Prep.
Our JV top runners Josh Cirotto finished in 5th place and Maeve Milligan finished in 8th place.  They both had very good runs this morning.  Middle School runs tomorrow at 1:00 at Old Settler's Park.
Next week we are off to Jarrell and then the District Meet at Jarrell a week and half later.
The season has gone very fast.

I would like to personally thank the Cross Country team, led by Charlsie Schwartz and Payton Bodnar, for getting me the personal signed McFarland USA movie poster.  It was signed by the true runners of that team and the actors.  Our Kids at Gateway are some Great KIDS!!!!
