Georgetown, Texas – Bobby Schwartz has been appointed the first ever full-time Athletic Director for Gateway College Preparatory School effective August 1. School founder and CEO Richard N. Rickey states, “After ten years of growing the school we are finally able to hire a full-time person to get us ready for our new assignment to the UIL 4A classification for all sports”.
Coach Bobby Schwartz comes to Gateway College Prep with over 20 years’ experience as an Athletic Director. Most recently he served in that capacity at Paragon Prep in Austin, leading the program during its growth in the Austin Inter-Parochial League (AIPL) from a 1A school to eventually a 6A size school. He has coached several sports including positions as Head Basketball Coach at Paragon Prep, various AAU basketball teams in the Austin area, and Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at St. Edward's University. He has also served as National Director for the American Jewish Coaches Association.
He received his B.A. from USC, and his masters’ degree from the University of Texas. He is a Texas certified social studies teacher, and most recently was teaching AP History at Gateway Prep. Coach Schwartz states, “I look forward to implementing the school athletic mission to physically prepare, and academically qualify our athletes for a scholarship to a college or university that fits them”.
Gateway College Prep is heading into its eleventh year of UIL membership. Orenda Education is the sponsoring entity for Orenda Public Charter School District. Gateway College Preparatory School is one of five schools operated by Orenda.
